Just want to be like Dad. Go to work in jeans and get dirty. The perfect career.

A little dirt never hurt, but hail does.

We went for a great ranger ride outside Zions. We also
decided to find a couple of geo caches. On the second
cache we had to cut our trip short when lightning and rain
headed our way. On our way to the cars we hit
hail. Hail at 30 mph hurts, and is cold, and is not fun.
Lacey (the dog) cried the whole way back. Even
after we covered her up. She was NOT impressed.
The kids shed their wet clothes and warmed up on
the sitting vehicles before we headed home dirty yet happy.

Happy Birthday Gavers.

Gavin is officially 8.
He is now a Cub Scout.
He can sit without a booster seat in the car.
He can get baptized.
He can multiply.
He can constantly amaze us with his sweetness and enthusiasm.

Happy 70th Birthday Dad!!

We surprised my Dad for his 70th birthday and here are some pics from that party. I know they are small, just click on image and it should take you to another browser where you can zoom in and out and examine better the many faces of the Fay family. It was so much fun to pull this off.
Lying is not as easy as one would think.

Hiking the Egan Range

Looking down on Cummins Lake

Yes, kissing the FLAT ground.

Looking back up to where we came from.
Seriously, it was steeper than it looks.
You can ask our knees.

Hiking the Egan Range.

Where's Josh?
Did I mention it was steep?

We were killing time, dreading the hike back down.

Cute hiker--he was quite the trooper.
It was a very difficult climb.

We made it to a ridge and looked over to Cummins Lake.

Hiking the Egan Range.

Ward Mountain peak in the back to the left.
We didn't make it there this time, but hope to someday.

I don't think this photo does justice to the steep terrain.
Notice...no trail, we were going cross country.

Just taking a short break to shed the jackets.

Looking back toward the mine. Those pits are amazing.

A view of the upper terrace where we parked.
Can you believe how green it is. Is this really Nevada?

Jordan's 2nd 50 Miler!! Yes, that's 100 miles this summer.

Jordan had the opportunity to go on two 50 mile hikes this summer for Boy Scouts. They were two weeks apart and he survived and even thrived. Ah to have the stamina of a 12 year-old! He had a great time and is very close to finishing his Camping merit badge. Woohoo.

The Cop

Tye just loves seeing policemen and police cars. He was truly excited to see one at our Pinewood Derby. He kept asking and asking to go talk to him so Marc took him over to talk. The officer gave Tye a sticker badge and was very nice. It was icing on the cake to see this same officer at a parade a couple of weeks later. He gave Tye an otter pop and I thought Tye would just bust out of his buttons upon receiving that honor.

A very patriotic Pinewood

Joshy competed in the Pinewood Derby this year and made the best car yet--the night before. We are learning that the amount of time spent making the car is not proportional to the success of the car. Josh's did well and he had a fun time.

Handsome scout waiting at the finish line.

Tye's 5th Bday

Jumpin Jacks is an indoor playland with lots of
blow-up-jumpy things that kids can play on.

Jordan, where are your pants??!

This, by the way, is published with Jordan's permission.

What they did during General Conference;)

Notice the cupholders in the sand!
Just a note in case you didn't know. If you want to
see these layouts better, just double click on
the picture and it will open up in a new window.

Why DIDN'T the chicken cross the road........

So, the neighbors across the street have chickens that come out on the lawn everyday and Tye has been observing them for some time and finally got permission to pick one up. They DON'T cross the road and we figure they have super chicken sense that boys and a big dog live on the other side.

January

Jordan went to his first Klondike derby for Boy Scouts.

Josh joined band and started learning trumpet.

Gavin is trying to quit sucking his thumb.
And Tye (not pictured because he doesn't sit still enough)
is happy to bounce around the house with Lacey
and watch Wall-E for the 100th time.
